ImportMargin

Privacy Policy
This page explains what information ImportMargin by AMI Group collects and how it is used. This page is a professional placeholder, written to be thorough and specific to how the platform actually works, but it is not legal advice — it should be reviewed by a qualified legal advisor familiar with applicable data protection law before public launch.
1. Information we collect
Account details you provide at signup (name, age, email, phone number, country, address), shipment, product, cost and supplier data you enter to use the platform, documents you choose to upload (invoices, bills of lading, packing lists and similar), and the text of any AI Quick Estimate prompts or Import Copilot questions you submit. We also collect payment transaction records (amount, status, reference — not your card or mobile-money credentials, which we never see), and basic technical data (device, browser, IP address) needed to operate the service securely.
2. Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage — not third-party advertising or tracking cookies — to remember small pieces of state on your own device: your session, your language preference, whether you've dismissed an install or promotional banner, and (for visitors without an account) how many free AI estimates you've used. None of this is sold to or shared with advertisers.
3. How we use your information
To provide the landed-cost, pricing, AI-assisted analysis and shipment-planning features you use, to authenticate your account, to send transactional messages (email verification codes, WhatsApp verification codes, payment confirmations), to process payments you initiate, and to maintain and improve the reliability and security of the platform. We do not use your shipment or business data to train AI models.
4. Third-party service providers
We do not sell your data. To operate ImportMargin, certain information is processed by the service providers that power specific features, each only for that purpose:
- Supabase — our database, authentication and file-storage provider. Your account data, shipment records and uploaded documents are stored here, access-controlled to your account alone.
- OpenAI — processes the text of AI Quick Estimate prompts, invoice photos, and Import Copilot questions to generate the corresponding estimate or answer.
- Paynow — our Zimbabwean payment gateway, used to process the paid features you choose to purchase. Card and mobile-money details are handled entirely by Paynow; we only receive confirmation of payment status.
- Meta (WhatsApp Business Cloud API) — used only to deliver WhatsApp verification codes to the phone number you provide, if you choose to verify it.
- Wikimedia Commons, open.er-api.com, r.jina.ai — free public read-only APIs used respectively for product photo lookup, live exchange rates, and reading a pasted supplier/product link. No account or personal data is sent to these services.
Beyond these providers, information is shared only where you take an explicit action to do so — for example, connecting with a clearing agent, sharing a shipment, or sending a report link.
5. Data storage, security and location
Your data is stored with row-level access controls scoping every record to your own account, so another user's session can never read your data directly. Uploaded documents are kept in a private storage bucket and are never publicly accessible; downloads use short-lived, time-limited links. Our infrastructure providers may store and process data on servers located outside Zimbabwe.
6. Data retention
We retain your account and shipment data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. Payment records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes even after account deletion.
7. Your choices
You can review and correct your account details at any time from Settings, and you can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and associated data, subject to any records we are required to keep for legal or accounting reasons.
8. Age requirement
ImportMargin is a business tool intended for users 18 and older, consistent with the minimum age enforced at registration. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
9. Contact us
For any question about this policy, or to request access, correction or deletion of your data, use the contact form on the ImportMargin sign-in page.
10. Updates to this policy
This policy may be updated as ImportMargin develops. Continued use of the platform after updates means you accept the revised policy.
